Valparaíso is Chile's fifth administrative region from either northward to south. These are on the equivalent latitude when Santiago but borders with a sea. In that region is placed a main harbor city of Chile, Valparaíso and the independent beach town Viña del Mar. Administratively a Pacific Easter Island also falls under a Valparaíso Region's administration. A Juan Fernandez Islands and the Desventuradas Islands are also section of the vicinity.
